Music and yada yada yada ......

I'm 54 and my favorite artist up until recently was P!NK. Now she's my second favorite having been replaced by Lady Gaga. I don't know what it is about her, but her voice, her presentation, everything about her makes her the greatest singer on the market today. Sorry Mariah, Beyonce and whoever else, there's a new kid on the block.

I was strictly an oldies type of guy till I met my wife. Don't get me wrong, I still love a lot of oldies music but I really have to be in the mood to listen to it now. I was stuck for quite awhile until I ran across a CD of hers by Anastacia. One of the first things I listened to from it was 'Freak Of Nature' and the floodgates opened. I haven't looked back since. Btw, I love Anastacia .... her voice is unique and her range and the power of her voice is incredible. That's why I was so disappointed in her latest album. It didn't showcase her voice like her previous work. Kind of the same thing applies to P!NK ..... I fell in love with the nasty rocker chick persona she started with and then she went to lamenting her personal life in her latest album. I can understand testing the waters but do it one or two songs at a time, not an entire album.

On to other things .... I'm still sick .... and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I hope it ends soon.

An Arkansas police officer used a taser on a 10 year old girl ...... excuse me? You're telling me a full-grown man could not handle a 10 year old girl? Pathetic. Yes, I know the girl had emotional problems. Whatever. If she'd been properly disciplined prior to reaching 10 she wouldn't be the little brat she is now.

Which brings me to a subject that really pisses me off. Parents can no longer discipline their kids without fear of being reported and losing them. What the hell? If I had talked back to my Dad when I was growing up he would have whupped my butt. Now, your kid can do anything and if you touch them, expect a visit from people you're not gonna like.

I worked at Wallyword until I retired recently and I've seen how kids behave in there and how their parents react (or don't react) to it. Disgusting.

There was an article not too long ago about a guy who disciplined a woman's unruly child and while I don't condone what he did, I certainly understand. Many's the time I've wanted to tell the a customer to get their kid under control or get the hell out.

Well, the love of my life has dinner ready so I'll be going.

Being sick ....

Haven't written anything in a few days and I blame it on being really ..... REALLY ..... sick. No, it's not the H1N1 flu ... it is definitely the grandmother of all colds. Been sick for 6 days now .... my wife has it as well, in fact, she gave it to me (I love sharing everything with ya sweetie but this I coulda done without lol ... ) ..... at any rate, we ended up in the emergency room the other night at about 2.30 in the morning because she couldn't breathe and the coughing was killing both of us. They gave us some cough medicine with codeine in it and a nebulizer treatment. Which btw, is a funny story if you'd been there because we both had these silly looking plastic tubes hanging out of our mouths and the young attractive admissions girl walked in and told us how funny we looked sitting there side by side with those things hanging out of our mouths ... lol .....

I still have this cold, it's probably one of the worst I've ever had, but I decided to try a different plan of attack against it tonight. I'm going to try and drink it into submission. * falls off chair laughing *

That will either work or I won't care. ;)

Okay, onto the news .... that scum who killed the anchorwoman got a life sentence instead of death. Excuse me? We have to house and feed this waste of human flesh for the rest of his life?? Hopefully someone will save us a lot of expense while he's inside. Might sound cold but that's how I feel. Some people do not deserve to continue breathing and this guy is one.

Lots of guys taking out their wives and kids and themselves in today's economy. What's up with that? There are always ways out other than death. One just has to work hard in finding them. I've tried to picture myself walking into our bedroom with a gun, firing it and splattering my soul mate's brains all over the wall, then turning it on myself and removing my consciousness from the planet (simply as a mental exercise to try and understand where they're coming from) and I just can't do it. I can't fathom the mental processes that goes on in these people's brains.

Ya know, I post a lot of news on my site and probably 90% or more deals with death and destruction and I've thought about stopping but I can't. At times, I'll post something horrible, then just break down and cry. Yea, a man who cries, I'm not ashamed of it. Anyone who doesn't shed tears for the state of mankind isn't human.

Just a random thought .... the Supreme Court refused to hear the lawsuit against the Washington Redskins that says their name is offensive. Thank you Supreme Court. Though the reasons you gave aren't what I'd hoped I'm really sick and tired of this 'political correctness' crap. Get a life people. Instead of worrying about what a football team calls themselves, why don't you try worrying about how many children die everyday from hunger or neglect or abuse in this world? Or how many homeless people there are. Or how are natural resources are being eaten up at a frightening rate. Or how cancer takes the lives of millions. Or any other number of causes that really mean something. You political correctness people make me want to vomit.

I guess that's enough for tonight. It's getting late. Of course, being retired, does that really have any meaning? ;)

Odds And Ends

My wife and I run a forum (which, btw, is apparently a dying breed) and I'm a HUGE newshound. I post lots of news articles so here's a few comments on what's going on ......

That  piece of garbage in Texas has been charged with 13 counts of murder ..... should be 14 since one of his victims was pregnant but irregardless (my wife hates that word) .... only problem is that the charges were read to him without his attorney present. ARRRRGGGHHH! Don't screw this up guys! The absolute last thing that should happen is that this scumbag walks on a technicality.

I saw the face of the women attacked by that chimpanzee in Connecticut .... omg ..... I'm a slice and dice horror fan but nothing I've seen in any movie compares to what this poor women looks like ... the most amazing thing to me is her positive attitude. I'm not so sure I could be like that ... I'm thinking I'd rather check out ....

The scum who beat and killed that news anchor in Arkansas has been found guilty. Thank God. They're deciding now whether or not he deserves to die. Well, duh, no-brainer here kiddies. Remove this waste of human flesh from the planet and do it now.

What else? Doesn't seem to be much actually happening in the political world. The Koreans are doing their normal thing and the Middle East is the Middle East ...... other than that, it's pretty quiet.

Can someone please tell me what our Lord and Savior Barack Obama has actually done since he's been in office? (that's going to get me in serious trouble with my sweetie) Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, it's impossible not to, but he should never have been elected in the first place on experience alone.

He really, really talks a good game but I'm still waiting for some scores .......

I guess that's it for tonight ..... the hour is late, the brewski's have taken their toll, and the stomach is calling.

There is no God! Part II

Again, the news makes ya wonder. The massacre at Fort Hood hit me hard being a retired veteran. All those young soldiers who were serving their country in the most  patriotic way possible having their lives snuffed out by some nut who barely made it as a psychiatrist (apparently, allegedly, whatever). How is that right?

I read he's paralyzed from his wounds. The only bad thing about that is that we'll have to take care of this piece of human garbage. I salute the heroes that took him down, especially Kimberly Munley. People like them are a credit to the human race.

Then some other nut shooting up an office building because he was 'angry'. Give me 5 minutes with him and I'll show him 'angry'.

Someone explain to me why these things are allowed to happen.

There is no God!

Okay, maybe there is but sometimes I have to wonder. I post news articles on my forum and the things I read would make your hair curl or bring tears to your eyes.

For example, this sicko pyschopath in Cleveland .... lots of dead bodies in his house .... this guy needs to be removed from the face of the planet. Yea, yea ... I know, innocent until proven guilty but this guy is guilty, no question. Save us all some tax money and remove him now.

Next example ... 3 young women from North Dakota disappear and are found at the bottom of a lake in their jeep. Why?

Why are these things allowed to happen?

It isn't right.

Brett

Brett Favre is the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game in my mind. He plays with reckless abandon which gets him intercepted quite a bit but there's no denying that his skill and enthusiasm overcomes that more often than not and wins more games than any team could ask for.

He proved it today. He showed that his current team is better than my Packers. They didn't make the mistakes that my boys can't seem to stop doing. No, or almost no, stupid penalties and boneheaded plays.

I stop being a fan of Favre when he left the Pack ..... I'm now a fan again. Say what you will, the man is impressive.

Cats

Cats are a pain in the ass. I love them (we have 5) but they're still a pain in the ass. We just got our 5th one recently and since then there have been 3 instances of one of them not using the litter box. The timing suggests right away that it's the new cat (Gus) but ......

I've never seen him on any of the furniture except the bed which is where 2 of the instances occurred. The third is on the couch but as I said, I've never seen him up there. Our oldest cat, the only female and way overweight (Possum), is the only one who slept on that couch. In fact, she spends about 20 hours a day sleeping, most of it on the bed or on the couch.

I've seen Gus use the litter box many times but rarely see Possum use it.

So is it her or Gus? I don't know what to do or how to resolve this. We cannot have a cat in the house that won't use the litter box. That's just not an option.

College Football

I love college football. What other sport in the U. S. can pack in up to 100,000 people in a single stadium? And these guys play like their lives depend on it, which in most cases, it does.

Do I have any favorite teams? Wisconsin, of course .... and any team from Florida. I don't why I like the teams from Florida, it's not like I was born and raised there. I did spend several years there but nothing that would make me a diehard Florida fan one would think.

Outside of those, I like watching any team playing someone in the top 25 and I root for them. I love it when the underdog wins (as long as my teams aren't playing).

I'm also a pro football fan but I'll leave that for another post.

I used to be a baseball nut but just can't get into it anymore. I'll put a game on now and then but I usually end up falling asleep.

If I had to choose one sport that I'd be forced to watch exclusively, it would be college football.

I hate stupidity!

I'm watching game one of the World Series and it's the first inning. Man on second and third, two outs, count 3 and 1. The pitcher has been having control problems. He now has to throw two straight strikes or find the bases loaded. Does it not make sense to take the next pitch? If it's a ball, you're on base and they're loaded. If it's a strike, you have another shot.

So what does the batter do? Swing meekly and ground out. AARRRGGHHH!
